In this rebroadcast of February 1st, 2019, Author James Reston, Jr. joins Barry to discuss the possible parallels between the efforts to impeach Richard M. Nixon and the developing campaign to impeach Donald J. Trump.  Reston has just unearthed his own as yet unpublished diary of the months he spent in Washington in 1974 just before Nixon's resignation.  He and Barry explore the long and difficult road to impeachment and why pundits may be missing the boat searching for a "smoking gun" in  the form of a specific statute Trump violated.
Reston was the person British satirist David Frost tapped to prepare him for his extraordinary CBS interview of Nixon about Watergate (this was the subject of the archival interview last year. Buy his books HERE
“Cultureshocks” is designed to introduce new people and new projects to audiences.  Part one of this encore  features an interview with prolific writer James Reston, Jr. about a project which has just now come to fruition: the publication of his “Impeachment Diary” (available at Amazon and many local bookstores).

Part two features a lively chat with comedian Leah Bonnema who just this week got her first network appearance on “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert”.
Leah Bonnema is a NYC based comedian who has performed at comedy clubs and festivals around the world. The Huffington Post named her one of its favorite female comics and Barry says "she is in the top tier of my favorite comedians, female or male".

During this encore presentation which first aired on April, 19, 2019, Leah and Barry explore Leah's favorite films and find agreement about one wildly criticized film they both love.
Then, the conversation turns to politics as they discuss AG Bill Barr's weird eye movements during his press conference about the Mueller report, proving Leah's extraordinary ability to merge the personal with the political.
Barry also tries to give Leah advice about how to deal with going (or not going) to "Avengers: Endgame" without her boyfriend.
